by: xeneizeusa - Dec 19 2007, 10:11AM Hi Patricia
Glad you had a great OUC Half experience even though you didn't hit the time goal you wanted. That happened to me at the OUC Half 2006.
I've been away from this site for a while and I missed the Reindeer 5K. Hope you had a good run.
My next race and the focus for many in this group is the Seasons 52 5K in Winter Park in Jan. Maybe we'll get a chance to meet you then.
Have a happy and safe Holiday Season.
Silvio

by: PAMA - Dec 5 2007, 12:09PM Hello!
I'm pretty happy with my first half even though I really struggled in the last three miles and didn't make the time I wanted. But I finished and it was a great experience! The weather was great and it was good to see fellow runners before and after.
Doing the Reindeer Run 5k this weekend. How about you?

by: PAMA - Nov 28 2007, 10:01AM Hello!
I am new to the group but am a long time runner (though a beginner at long distance running--the OUC half this Saturday will be my first).
Has anyone seen the new course map for the race? It's radically different from last year's. It's sort of a gigantic loop with one long, straight stretch that goes on for about two miles.
I think the weather will be on the warm side but after training all summer in the extreme heat, I'm not complaining!
Good luck to everyone running the race!
Patricia

by: ADutch1 - Oct 25 2007, 3:46PM As far as I know, the only thing that has been shattered in the last 2 weeks are Adam's B.... :)
I am 100%, no actually make that 110%, sure Adam will never (NEVER) break the 22 mark, let alone the 20 mark. FREEEEEEE BEEEEER!!!

by: awalker77 - Oct 25 2007, 3:30PM The goal was set for the Corporate 5k next April. I said that I will run a 5k in under 22 minutes. My first is that I'm going to run a 5k in under 24 minutes and shatter Victor to pieces. Then I'm going to run a 5k in under 22 minutes something that Silvio has never done. Finally, I am going for ultimate enchilada and break 20 minutes for a 5k.

by: xeneizeusa - Oct 24 2007, 10:10PM Now that is an interesting wager. Can Adam run a 5k pace faster than Rich and I run our Half Marthon pace?
Two cases of Mich Ult Amber!!!
Nothing taste better than free, cold, ultra amber beer! Did I mention its free beer!!
But that is a big diff though, 13.1 miles to his 3.1. Hmmmmm! Free beeer! ! !
That can almost make me shave off 30 secs off my pace. Can Adam, in his debilitated state beat an 8:30 pace in his 5K against my Half. FREEEEEEEEEE BEEEEEEER! ! !
I guess I'm in. Victor, want to get in on this action?? Freeeeeeeee beeeeeeeeer! ! ! ! ! ! !

Ok, after I stopped rolling around on the ground in sheer laughter, I had to think about this.
First we have Arnold in the pic then Ronald McDonald. I'm talking about our buddy, Adam.
Adam is going to do a 22 min 5k????
Ok, here's the wager. If Adam is going to do a 5k in 22 then Silvio and I are going to do it with him or give up something.
It's a wager so someone has to lose and someone win. And there has to be a goal. So what is it? The OUC 5k?
Perhaps it is something like this. If Adam can run a 22 min 5k at the OUC 5k, he gets 2 cases of Michelob Ultra Amber (that's new and very good, I know). Maybe this is a little aggressive and we need to look further out.
What do you think?
Maybe it's this. If Adam beats Silvio or I in the average mile/min when we run the OUC half and he runs the OUC 5k, he wins and gets the 2 cases.
That should be a walk in the park. What about that?

by: malticefalcon - Oct 24 2007, 8:59PM This is so very cool. I don't know how everyone found this post but it is awesome reading all the comments from other runners that feel the same way. I like the runner's high. When it comes it is the best feeling in the world ..... well maybe not quite the best if you know what I mean.
Today I did 5 miles at a fast pace and it was a good run. It was one of those that your mind wants to go slower but your body just takes you and keeps you going faster and faster. It was the best!

by: xeneizeusa - Oct 24 2007, 9:25AM Well Adam is putting his running shoes where his mouth is (YUCK). After a brief recovery from a recent minor procedure, he vows to shatter a 22min 5K at an upcoming event!!!
Can he do it gang?!?
Will he DO IT?!?!
Will we give him support?!??!
Will someone please lend him a bicycle 'cause that's the only way I see him breaking that mark!!!
