That's great encouragement from your son! Work has been nuts, but I have been pretty diligent on biking or walking at lunch - trying to gradually increase my miles biked to be able to ride from my daughter's/son's daycare to work instead of taking the car. It's only 6 miles, but I have to get my speed up so I am not late/look totally wiped out/expire on the side of the road. I had tried jumping the distance quickly, but everthing I've read says to increase by 10%, so.... Now at least I do not feel wiped out the next day too. Tried swimming this weekend - too cold - only 3 laps @ 61degrees!

Nice to hear from you Lydia happy anniversary.  You have been married twice the years I have.  Your son is sweet.  Did'nt work out at all yesterday - spent half of the day in my running clothes but just did not get out of the house.  Got up at 5.45 am this morning and  ran 14.7 miles.

Today I went a group bike ride for total 24 miles.  The ride went well and I was feeling great during the ride and afterward - when I got home within a hour I starting to feel tried and a fever came on.  My husband and me were planning to a movie and dinner tonight for our 24th Wedding Anniversray.  Since we both of have the day off tomorrow we decided to go out tomorrow instead.

Hello Jacquie, Sorry for the delay in responding you your question.  It has been crazy at work with deadlines for the class starting on the 2nd September. My next Tri is on the 14th September.  Because of work I missed 4 days of workout - so much stress.  Anyway I started a Tri class today at the local community college - a class my husband has taken twice plus many of friends.  I rode my bike to the class for short ride of 12 miles round trip.  We did some swimming which I didn't do so well.  I called my son at school and told him how upset I was about my swimming.  He said to me "mom you will get better - at least you are doing something to stay healthy which many people don't do"  I guess I just needed to hear does words from my son.  Lydia

Hi all! Rode 4.5 today at lunch (23min) and walked .75 (12:55min). The weather channel said it was cool out, but boy was it humid and warm when I got out. Needless to say if you have ever seen it( which you haven't yet), but I get bright fushia when I work out and it's hot out. Air conditioning feels so good when I come back into the office! LOL I didn't do any formal workouts this weekend, but had a massive playdate for my daughter and got a home freezer/food order in - so lots of standing/walking on the first thing and a good amount of heavy lifting and rapid putting away for the second. I am looking forward to next season when I will (yes that is said with extreme determination!)be ready to do a sprint tri. I'm thinking of putting on my own "mini" sprint - kind of brick training with all three combined, but a 1/4 or so of the sprint distance, just to get the feel of putting it all together. Is that a nutty idea or does that make sense? So - what about wetsuits - either of you own one for open water swimming? Buoyancy is the main thing I keep hearing about, but I'm pretty buoyant.

Hi Jenn, nice of you to join our forum. Right now there are only three regular posters and we have been consistently motivating each other.  Karen and Lydia will log on before the end of the week.  Just keep posting whatever activity you feel contribute to staying healthy or in your case to lose weight. Today is my final day in Florida, ran 5.2 miles.  To return to NY tomorrow morning and back to my usual routine. P.S.  I had to copy this from another posting - a new user created a new "introduce yourself" and I got confused and posted there also.  I wrote a message that she should use this forum instead.  Hope she returns.  Jacquie
