Eastside Parks Century Ride - Jefferson Ave, Belle Isle, Metro Beach, Stoney Creek, 16 mile path, Ut
Century Ride that incorporates the three biggest parks on the East side, doing one loop of each: Belle Isle, Metro Beach, Stoney Creek. Ride can start anywhere on the loop. Much of the riding is done on either Jefferson Avenue (which is friendly to bikers due to minimal crossing intersections because it follows the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair), the Bike trail along 16 mile road, and or Park loops that do have minimal vehicle traffic. There is no admission fee for bikers to enter any of the parks. Wear a helmet, be safe. This might be the ultimate east-side Century tour. The most harrowing/dangerous section for vehicle traffic is Shelby Road north of Utica and the few mile stretch of Jefferson Avenue leading to Belle Isle. There are an abundance of places to stop both in and outside the parks for food, bathrooms. There will probably always be some other bikers nearby if you need assistance. Some shortcuts are throw in like the tunnel underneath M-59 just south of Utica and the Union Lake Road bypass to get from 16-mile back to Shook Rd/Jefferson. All in all, you will see everything once on this trip. - a 100.7 mi cycling route in St Clair Shores, Michigan
