The Single Man Peloton started off in chilly Ballarat with the cyclist's usual repast of coffee and something vaguely resembling pide bread with ham, cheese, tomato and a green pesto slime. Off we (the "Single Man Peloton") go towards... Melbourne. All pretty good until a bee sting gets me just north of the old stomping ground of Bacchus Marsh. Boy, was I stung! Anyway, a very deep depression came upon me there, as I ended up down, down, down in the "Marsh".
All good things must come to an end and the notorious "Anthony's Cutting" awaits any persons journeying south-east from Bacchus Marsh. Did that OK, but an ineffable shame must befall Vicroads for giving cyclists about 1/2 metre shoulder as we go down to Deep Creek Cutting and then, at the same time, leave solidified slough of asphalt on the lip of a bridge and a big pot-hole to jump across at 60 kmh without warning, all the while with B-Doubles and Semi-Trailers doing 110 khm about 1/2 metre away. "Death Zone" there! :-(
