I started running in January 2008 just to get in shape for skiing. I realized that the elevation at Taos and Ski Santa Fe really kicked my ass compared to the "big" mountains back East so my running was just for stamina. But then in late April 2008 I decided to try my first 1/2 marathon at the Jemez Mountain Trail Runs. I began really training that April and completed my first road 10k and 1/2 marathon in May 2008. Since then, I just kept running. In late 2008 I started attending some Albuquerque Fit running events (local running group). And then finally, my girlfriend and I decided to register for our first Ultra Marathon, the Vermont 50 later in September 2008. In March of 2009 I completed the Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon in White Sands, NM and in May of 2009 I successfully completed the Jemez Mountain Trail Run 50k.
